Recently, an expert panel from the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology conducted an on-site inspection of the construction progress of the International Joint Research Center for Infrastructure Disaster Prevention in Civil Engineering at Chang’an University. Vice President Meng Zhenjiang and Deputy Director Dang Dong from the Scientific Research Institute, Dean Xing Guohua, and Vice Dean Zhao Xiaohong from the School of Civil Engineering, along with relevant laboratory platform leaders, participated in the on-site evaluation activities.
The expert group first visited and inspected research platforms related to infrastructure disaster prevention, including the Structural Experiment Center, Geotechnical and Building Materials Experiment Center, Civil Engineering Laboratory, and Municipal HVAC Experiment Center. They highly commended the development of our university's research platforms in the field of civil engineering infrastructure disaster prevention.

Subsequently, the expert panel from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology discussed with representatives from our university's Scientific Research Institute and School of Civil Engineering. The talks focused on the center's daily operations, international scientific cooperation and exchanges, institutional policy support and development, as well as talent team building and achievements. The experts fully affirmed the accomplished work and results of the joint research center.
Discussion and exchange
In December 2019, the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology officially recognized the International Joint Research Center for Infrastructure Disaster Prevention in Civil Engineering, submitted by our university, as a provincial-level international sci-tech cooperation base in Shaanxi. This international joint research center was established in response to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on cutting-edge challenges in civil engineering infrastructure disaster prevention both domestically and internationally. Leveraging the disciplinary strengths and platform advantages of our university in civil engineering, the center collaborates with leading overseas research institutions to advance fundamental theories and key technologies in infrastructure disaster prevention. Its mission encompasses the development of academic platforms, pioneering scientific research, and the cultivation of high-level talent in this critical field.
